Dr. Douglas K.Y. Chang DVM

Practicing since 1982

DVM Degree: Colorado State University

The Alpha Dog

Meet Dr. Douglas K.Y. Chang, the top dog at Aloha Animal Hospital Associates! Since founding the hospital in 1986, Dr. Chang has been the heart and soul of the practice. He juggles a variety of roles, from caring for pets and training staff to staying on the cutting edge of veterinary science.

Dr. Chang's journey began with a Bachelor of Science from Washington State University, followed by a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University. His leadership skills have shone brightly throughout his career, having served as President of the Honolulu Veterinary Society and as a State Representative for the American Veterinary Medical Association. He's even made appearances on TV and radio, sharing his expertise on pet care.

When he's not at the hospital, Dr. Chang is out in the community, taking "working vacations" to help build and restore hiking trails and community centers. He also hits the gym regularly to stay fit and ready for the demands of his profession.

Dr. Chang isn't just an exceptional vet; he's a dedicated community volunteer. Here he is, inspiring the next generation by teaching kids what it's like to be a vet!

Dr. Whitney Sia DVM

DVM  Degree: Oregon State University

The Adventurous Vet

Born and raised in the beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii, Whitney Sia is a proud alumna of Punahou School. She pursued her passion for science at Willamette University, earning a degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. Whitney then achieved her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State University's Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine, specializing in mixed animal medicine.

Currently, Whitney is honing her skills through a year-long rotating internship at VCA Family and Oahu Specialty Center in Pearl City. She's thrilled to be back at Aloha Animal Hospital, working alongside Dr. Chang, where she previously spent six years as a dedicated technician. Her special interests include internal medicine, emergency medicine, and cardiology.

When Whitney isn't busy at the clinic or on farms, you'll find her embracing the great outdoors—whether it's diving into the ocean, hiking scenic trails, or hitting the gym. She loves adventuring with her furry companions: Maya, her Australian Shepherd, and her two cats, Cheeto and Melvin.

Michelle Suenishi

Hospital Administrator

From managing both animals to humans, Michelle can handle anything life throws at her. Michelle is like a snow globe; sparkly on the inside, orderly on the outside, and likes to be left alone. While growing up, she used to coach paddling which gives her the skills to make sure everything at Aloha Animal runs smoothly. When she's not at Aloha Animal, Michelle is a supporting Skate and Aerial Silks mom to her talented daughter, Stephany.
